Clem Bowman has had extensive private and public sector experience in the development and commercialization of new technologies, providing a foundation for his active role as Chairman of the Board of ProGrid Ventures Inc.

Before starting ProGrid, Dr. Bowman was vice-president, Esso Petroleum Canada, founding chairman, Alberta Oil Sands Technology and Research Authority, president, Alberta Research Council, and research manager, Syncrude Canada Limited.

He has also served in an executive role with the Canadian Research Management Association, the Chemical Institute of Canada and the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering.

Building on his long career in R&D management, Clem Bowman began the search for measuring "intangibles," the things accountants do not measure but that nevertheless make the difference between success and failure, whether it be in the development of new technologies or measuring organization performance.

Working with senior technology managers from the private and public sectors, the result of the search is ProGrid, now used extensively, as described in “Intangibles - Exploring the Full Depth of Issues"
